Kindergarten
This week we continued to work on our song Seven Feet Of Snow. Please make sure you are practicing at home!
We also played a singing game that involved tempo changes
Grade 1/2
This week we practiced our 16th note rhythms with tika tika and switched off with an obstinate (repeating pattern of notes)
We also learned a song in Blackfoot which we played along to with the drums. We switched off playing the beat and the way the words go.
We also snuck in some games at the end!
Grade 3/4
We started to read music today. We introduced the 5-line staff as well as the treble clef. We have started with the notes in the spaces! F A C E - remember space rhymes with face. Start from the bottom up to put in the notes.
We used a giant floor staff to play note twister.

Jan. 20/21
Kindergarten
We started to learn a song today for the Kindergarten's celebration of learning. If your child is in Mrs. Masks class you have not learned it yet. The classes committed to trying to run the song 5 times before next week. Here is the link to Seven Feet of Snow.
We have also been working on some snow themed poems and actions
Today we also got our bodies moving with some fun movement songs
Grade 1/2

- Reviewed our rhythm reading
- Reviewed sol, mi and do
- learned a new song through solfage
- Played the cymbals!! (A percussion instrument because they hit each other to make sound)
- Discussed Johann Sebastian Bach
- listened to Minuet in G
- Discussed 3/4 time signature and found the accented beat
Grade 3/4
- reviewed rhythms
- Looked at an actual trumpet
- Watched the Canadian Brass play Flight of the Bumblebee and Penny Lane
- Created our own duet to a silly song and sang for the class

Jan. 13/14
Wow, could it be any colder. We tried to keep moving in music this week!!
Kindergarten
1. Learned some winter poems with actions
2. Played a singing guessing game where we got to act like animals
3. Learned about Penguin and sang and danced to a song about them
Grade 1/2
1. Learned about Ostinatos (a repeating pattern)
- created our own 4 beat ostinatos and had to repeat it correctly with other rhythms going on
2. Began to look at time signatures and what they mean
3. Played a singing game where we got to create some super silly (or cool) dance moves
Grade 3/4
1. We learned about the Brass family of instruments

2. Talked about time signatures, bar lines and repeat signs
3. Played a fun singing game where we got to work with partners and create some fun dance moves

Welcome Back!! It is so nice to see everyone and I hope you all had a fabulous break.
Kindergaten
Kindergaten
- Feeling the difference between fast and slow
- moving appropriately to slow much (at this age we tend to move at a constant run so slowing down is difficult)
- creating actions to songs
- used our body to show the scale and high and low notes
- Played the boom whackers
- discovered that the high notes come from the smaller Boom Whackers and the low notes come from the bigger ones.
Grade 1/2
- Introduced the solfage hand signs for sol, mi, and do
- Used the boomwhackers to play in groups of 8
- Introduced the 16th note (tiki tiki) and the half note (two-a)
Grade 3/4
