That's a Wrap!

Filming is finally finished and we have already watched 4 days of the advent calendar.  Many of the classes continued filming and recording this week but some also went back to their regular learning.

Kindergarten learned an action song about animals knocking on their windows and we acted out all of the animals.  They also started to write down their own rhythm sequences using shapes.  We practiced the rhythms we created.

Grade 1/2 talked about the notes on the scale as we sang a song where the notes move step by step like an elevator going floor to floor.  We had fun using our bodies to created the elevator.  We played a seasonal game where we were able to work with partners (at a distance). We finished the week by making up silly rhymes to a Christmas version of down by the bay (sleigh).

Grade 3/4 were all filming this week!

You will be able to access the videos that your students created on or around the 18th!

The Countdown Is On!

5 of the 15 videos are done! The students will be viewing them through an online advent calendar in their classes starting tomorrow.  The videos will be shared to the school YouTube channel once they are all done and viewed by the students.  Thank you so much to everyone who helped make them happen, they are super cute and the students will be very proud.

Kindergarten finished their videos last week so we are back into the swing of normal lessons.  Today we sang a song about Santa, worked on memorizing our ta and ti-ti rhythms and played fun carols on the Boomwhackers.

Mrs. McLean and Mrs. Wattersons class filmed their music video today.  We tried to make it like a proper rock music video.  It was so cool to see the kids rocking out with their instruments and taking a risk to dance on the stage. I can't wait to put all of the clips together.  They heard their recording of their song and were so excited. They couldn't believe it was them.

Mrs. Campbell's class also had class today! We recorded all of our vocals for I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas. They were done so quickly that we had a lot of time to do other things.  We played some games and learned about notes going up and down the scale.

All That Glitters...

Mrs. Wauthier's class! Wow, did we ever sweat today! We worked fast and furiously to shoot all of the different parts of the Diwali music video.  I am so proud of everyone! They will sleep well tonight,

Mrs. Low's class rocked out to Mrs. Felstrom playing some Christmas tunes! It is her last week with us and we will miss having her around. We practiced our Happy New Year song and recorded all of the parts.  They did a fantastic job. I am so impressed. We practiced with our ribbons as well. We will be filming next Wednesday.

Mrs. Zwack's class quickly got to work on their Hanukkah song.  We recorded all of the vocals and got to work on the staging.  I know this kind of movement is not everyones cup of tea and I was really proud of all the students who gave it their all.  We had special guest choreographers for the dance break in the middle of the song.  They planned on their own and then taught the class the moves.  Thanks Julia and Hennessy.

Mrs. Cox's class was so patient today as we worked bar by bar through Up on the Housetop on the handbells.  By then end of class the song was so fabulous.  We will be filming next Wednesday!

Filming Day 1

Filming for Light Up Your Hearts has begun.  We are hoping to release one or two videos each day to the classes starting on Monday as a bit of advent fun as we count down the last two weeks of school before winter break.  Time is flying.  Today Mr. Kai and Mrs. Day's classes were the first to film our videos and we had a blast.  We had some serious times and we also got to goof around a bit too.  Mrs. Felstom has been working with us on the songs we did today and she has done an amazing job.

Mr. Kelly's class demonstrated amazing patience today as we went bar by bar through the Handbell piece, the Huron Carol, while we made sure that everyone was playing at the correct place.  They really are doing an amazing job! Oliver also started the class by sharing his piano skills with us.  Everyone was super impressed! Thanks Oliver.

Mrs. Huebner's class did an amazing job recording their vocals for Jump at the Sun! They were so quick we even had time to stage the entire music video.  It's going to look so cool!

Way to go everyone!
